F-PROT ‘Fire & Ice’ Antivirus Software Integrated Into Mailspect Defense

Mailspect Defense Embeds F-PROT Antivirus Plug-In Into Its Control Panel

Tarrytown, New York, August 15, 2011 – RAE Internet Inc., the developer of the Mailspect Defense, announced the release of a new version its email security software today. The new release fully integrates F-PROT Anti-virus ‘Fire & Ice’ into Mailspect Defense and its Control Panel. The Control Panel is designed for email administrators at enterprises, managed service providers, educational institutions and governments. It controls and cleans the email stream at the gateway or mail server levels during the pre-scan or queue, scan, and post-scan or queue phases. Previously, Mailspect Defense offered (1) one click installation, (2) automatic updating of virus signatures and (3) analytics for the Clamd, ESET and Sophos computer virus scanning engines. Now, Mailspect has expanded its offering to include the F-PROT Antivirus engine on Linux, Unix and OS X.

“We added F-PROT ‘Fire & Ice’ because it is a good deal for our ISP, education, government and enterprise customers. It is priced substantially below other vendors and offers comparable performance levels as evidence by its many VB100 certifications. Plus we have more and more customers who are on the OS X operating system, and they need world class antivirus protection.”, said Paul L. Sterne, President, RAE Internet Inc., dba Mailspect and Match My Email.

“F-PROT is an efficient and effective antivirus scanner with state-of-the-art near-real time micro-updating and comprehensive logging and analytics,” said Serhiy Fyrin, Head of Development, Mailspect. “Combined with Mailspect’s many features such as Quarantine and our comprehensive suite of pre- and post-scan defense tools, Mailspect with F-PROT offers world class technology at a fraction of the price of competitors such a Kasperky, Sophos, ESET, McAfee and Norton Symantec.”

“Our relationship with Frisk Software International, the developer of F-PROT in Iceland, is tight. We have direct access to their lead developers and can escalate issues involving new viruses or Trojans quickly for our customers,” said Ovidiu Bivolaru, Head of Support, Mailspect.

Virus Bulletin is the leading publication dedicated to computer security. Virus Bulletin carries out independent testing of anti-virus products. Its unique VB100 certification is widely recognized within the industry. Unlike other certification schemes, Virus Bulletin tests all products free of charge and does not allow re-testing.

New End-User Interface for Mailspect Antivirus and Antispam Quarantine

Tarrytown, New York, July 11, 2011. Mailspect has released a new version of its popular email filtering software, Mailspect Defense. The new version, Mailspect Manager 1.7.3, includes a re-designed end-user interface for its Message Viewer module for email quarantine. The new interface puts all end-user commands on a single Action Ribbon eliminating the need for end-user training. In addition, end-user Black and White Listing of quarantined email involves a single click.

“Mailspect Defense is an end-to-end email security solution for mail gateways and servers. Through its control panel, Mailspect Manager, the software manages email security during all three phases of email processing: before it enters the email queue, during antivirus and anti-spam scanning and in post-queue quarantine. The software protects against computer viruses, spam, phishing, malware and Internet attacks. In post-queue, Mailspect Defense provides a state-of-the-art email quarantine that lets end-users and systems administrators manage “grey” email. With version 1.7.3, the end-user can act upon the emails in the quarantine using one-click button commands to: Remove, Deliver, Forward, Reply, Save to desktop, Export, Report False Positive, Print, Add to Whitelist or Add to Blacklist. The buttons are self-explanatory and easy-to use”, said Paul Sterne, president, RAE Internet, Mailspect’s parent company.

“ We took the new interface ideas that we had incorporated into a sister product, Match My Email, a email integration application for Salesforce.com, and applied them to Mailspect Defense. The net result is a much cleaner and intuitive interface that improves the customer experience.” said Serhiy Fyrin, Head of Development, RAE Internet Inc., the owner of the Mailspect brand.

“We also incorporated the Action Button inside of the actual email so that there is no jumping between windows in order to take an action.” said Ovidiu Bivolaru, Product Manager, Mailspect Defense.

Version 1.7.3 also includes a number of improvements based on customer and reseller requests.

1. White and Black Lists handle aliases automatically
2. F-PROT anti-virus scanner is detected by Control Panel.
3. Easier search for blacklist entries.
4. Domain admin is not allowed to change his or her own permissions within Mailspect.
5. Domain admin is not allowed to set user permissions (domains, aliases) that are outside of the scope of his or her own permissions.

Mailspect Integrates Cloudmark Antivirus Module

Mailspect Defense has released a new version that incorporates the antivirus module from Cloudmark. Since 2003, Mailspect Defense has included the Cloudmark antispam engine as a premium plug-in. Most Mailspect Defense customers use Cloudmark for antispam protection.

Cloudmark is known for having a world class antispam scanner that produces virtually ‘No False Positives”. False positive are particularly annoying to users and security administrators alike and cause customer dissatisfaction. Open Source scanners like Spamassassin, unfortunately, produce too many false positives which turns off enterprise and ISP users that requires near 100% antispam accuracy.

Cloudmark’s antivirus module is based on the same world class technology as its spam filters.

Cloudmark’s patented solutions combine Advanced Message Fingerprinting technology based on innovative, highly efficient algorithms, a Global Threat Network consisting of trusted reporters across the globe, real-time, automated analysis of traffic and content patterns, along with security research expertise, to provide real-time security intelligence and filtering across carrier networks. Cloudmark solutions protect more than 1.6 billion subscribers for the world’s largest networks.

This carrier-grade technology is now available through Mailspect Defense to smaller ISP’s and small and medium businesses using Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, Open-Xchange, Zimbra, Postifix, Communigate and Zarafa.

Mailspect Defense has three technology components: a Mail Filter, a Control Panel and a Message Viewer. The mail filter incorporates pre-queue and post-queue email scanning technologies that protect against email virus and spam as well as Internet attacks like denial of service. The Control Panel enables the system administrator to create and manage policy groups with specific security requirements and content filters. The Message Viewer is a sophisticated quarantine solutions that also incorporates email stream management capabilities like Disclaimers, Reports and Data Loss Protection.

Match My Email: Salesforce.com Edition Live on Production Server

Mailspect (aka RAE Internet and Message Partners) reached a milestone today.  Match My Email:  Salesforce.com Edition was moved to the production server and made available for general use by our customers.  MME Version 1.0.0 is designed to comply with the requirements of the Salesforce.com AppExchange in terms of security and scalable architecture.  It incorporates major improvements in the user interface and functionality.  Most importantly, it provides for ”Automatic Mode” usage which reprocesses email in background and matches them to Leads, Contact and Opportunities as the sales rep adds files to Salesforce.com.  With automatic reprocess, a sales rep never has to manually Reassign an email to a new Lead, Contact or Account.  Version 1.0.0 also accommodates Contact only workflows which was requested by certain customers and the Ignore feature which enables the end-user and domain admin to block personal or irrelevant emails from being processed and using up precious Salesforce.com “API calls”.  Match My Email works with Salesforce.com Professional, Enterprise and Unlimited Versions.

Communigate Pro Integration Improvements

Based on customer and partner requests, Mailspect has updated Defense to better integrate with Communigate Pro and Postfix. These updates will save customers’ money because they will support single box implements without sacrificing speed or throughput. Specifically, Mailspect Defense nows takes advantage of new native CGate Pro features related to the handling of email spam such as CGP reject and defer actions, CGP custom rejection templates and client host IP address extraction from the CGP envelope. The upgrade also includes Postfix improvements, namely Whitelisting of TLS/SASL autenthicated users.

Mailspect has a long history of supporting Communigate Pro implementations at enterprises and ISP’s or internet service providers. Mailspect Defense is considered the best Postfix antispam and antivirus platform integration on the market and it continues to improve.

Announcing Match My Email and Upgrade

Mailspect Connect has been renamed Match My Email in anticipation of its certification on the Salesforce.com AppExchange. Current customers and trial users will still be able to log-on with https://connect.mailspect.com, but future users will be migrated to www.matchmyemail.com. Match My Email is a hosted service that resides in the Amazon Web Services cloud. It matches emails to files in Saleforce.com. It can be used in two modes: Automatic and Hands-On. Most users prefer the Automatic mode that does the matching in the background and does not require any action on their part. Automatic mode is estimated to save the average user $938 per year. Hands-on mode is generally used by supervisors who want to dig into the email stream and have a convenient view of all the email traffic in theif sales group.

Mailspect expects to make monthly updates to the Match My Email. This update was driven by a customer request to accommodate a Contacts Only workflow. It also includes performance enhancements related to the partitioning the system for speed.

Mailspect brings email classification to a whole new level

We are pleased to announce a new tagging scheme that allows Mailspect to store the classification of an email in a tag along with the message itself. This way it is very easy to see sorted email streams based on any criteria you desire. Wanna see all email from the sales department on a project? Do you need to see all email from the legal and invest banking groups on an important deal? Mailspect can tag a message using any of our programmable ESM engines. Our programmable ESM engines can use formatted content or over 50 different macros from email in queries to LDAP or Active Directory, MySQL, Content Analysis, MIME restructuring or saving email data as files. We initially developed this technology for a deal in an industry whose regulations made it too difficult for us to compete but their desire was to sort all email by product trial and Active Directory business role. So all email from accounting about this product trial, all email from the lab about these 2 trials, etc. The power of this technology for sorting email is beyond what any product offers and the potential is immense if your business needs to makes sense of email. Let us know if this is something you’re interested.

Using LDAP or Active Directory as criteria for contextual email processing with Mailspect ESM Technology

Mailspect’s revolutionary Email Stream Management technology now includes a powerful LDAP engine. This means that we can query any LDAP source such as Active Directory, OpenLDAP, Zimbra Global Address List and more for use in email processing. We can handle the accounting departments email or attachments different than support. We can save the LDAP classification of an email along with the email to easily see all email from a department or group. We can check a customer system to route email to the right place based on the importance of the customer rather than just the address they sent the email to. It’s pretty powerful stuff and it’s only available in Mailspect so get on over to Mailspect and see what Contextual Email Processing is all about!

Mailspect Version 5 Available for General Release

After an 18 month testing period we are pleased to announce that Mailspect version 5 is now generally available. This is by far our most powerful release ever and it is perhaps the most powerful piece of email processing software that is generally available. At the core of Mailspect 5 is our ESM (Email Stream Management) contextual processing engine. ESM enables incredible control of how email is processed. The first step in ESM processing is classification, which can be done based on email content, sender/recipient, header content or directories such as Active Directory, Zimbra GAL or OpenLDAP. Once email is classified into streams ESM has powerful engines that can be applied to the streams. The http engine can query any SOAP or Restful interface using content from the email or over 100 macros generated from the email. Mailspect 5 can make email processing decisions or store email or metadata using any web services applications. The MySQL engine can use content or any email macro with a database query or store the email or metadata from the email in any database. The file engine can save any part of an email, perform checksums, dupe comparisons and much more. The MIME engine can create, strip or modify mime parts. The Boorex engine performs highly optimized content analysis of email using regular expressions. All of the engines are highly customizable and can be chained with custom workflows based on query responses or message characteristics.

Some of the other cool things in Mailspect 5 is the ability to dynamically assign content rules based on the flow of the communication. For example all email from one domain can’t contain certain attachments and they should be quarantined, while email from or to other locations can have content restrictions such as restricting the flow of confidential information. Even more impressively, these dynamic content filters can be used as email classifiers and Mailspect can store the classification of email along with the email for fast access to email about important topics.

In short, Mailspect 5 is a revolutionary email product that brings contextual email processing to a whole new level.

Along with these new amazing capabilities come more mundane features such as easier installation with full support of APT, YUM and improved AWS and system installers as well as 64 bit support. Visit us at mailspect.com for more details.
